Empress Masako Attends Daijosai

Empress Masako of Japan attends Emperor Naruhito's first harvest ritual, called Daijosai (大嘗祭), or great thanksgiving festival, at the Imperial Palace in Tokyo on November 15, 2019. Japan's new Emperor Naruhito on November 14 began an elaborate and secretive ritual dating back 1,300 years, giving thanks to the Sun Goddess Amaterasu as part of his enthronement rites.
